The healthcare and financial services sectors suffered the most cyberattacks in 2023, making up 25% of all attacks thwarted by BlackBerry’s cybersecurity solutions, according to the BlackBerry Global Threat Report. The majority of these were ransomware attacks, often causing system downtime, cancelled care, and risk to the data of patients and employees. The report also identified increasing numbers of “infostealers” and mobile app malware, emphasizing the need for advanced, multilayered cybersecurity defenses.
