Healthcare Data Breaches Impacted 25% of Americans in 2023

The five US states with the most exposed patient files due to data breaches are California, New York, Texas, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania, attributed to their large populations; Vermont was the only state with no reported attacks. The number of breached healthcare organizations in these states ranged from 43 in California to 14 in Ohio. As ransomware attacks escalate, it is suggested that healthcare facilities use antivirus software, password managers, and virtual private networks to increase their security.
