Healthcare in the Crosshairs of North Korean Cyber Operations

US healthcare and public health organizations are key targets for North Korean state-sponsored cyber attacks. According to a joint advisory released by the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), FBI and the Department of Health and Human Services, such cyber activities, which include ransomware attacks, are used to fund the North Korean government’s espionage endeavors. The revenue generated from these operations is usually in the form of cryptocurrency. The sectors have been advised against paying ransoms and to improve their cybersecurity systems to mitigate attacks.
