NoEscape, a ransomware threat group suspected to have originated from the disbanded Russian-speaking gang Avaddon, is expected to target the healthcare and public health sectors, as per the Health Sector Cybersecurity Coordination Center (HC3). The group, known since May 2021, offers malware tools for encrypting and exfiltrating victims’ data as well as distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks. HC3 advises healthcare providers to follow standard protection measures against ransomware attacks, like updates, regular backups and phishing email vigilance.
