HealthEquity: 4.3 Million People Affected by Data Breach

Hackers exploited a business partner’s account to breach HealthEquity’s systems and accessed the personal and health information of 4.3 million people. The hack began in March but was not identified until June, during which time customers’ sensitive data, including Social Security numbers and payment card details, were at risk. HealthEquity plans to notify those affected by early August and is offering two years’ worth of free credit monitoring and identity theft services.
