The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has selected five accelerators to aid in the development of medical products for biodefense and other security purposes. These accelerators will join the existing network of foundational members as part of the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA). The accelerators will focus on three key areas, including technologies that detect illnesses before symptoms appear, a sepsis initiative, and emerging health security technologies. The HHS program will provide support to startups and academics in the form of laboratory space, regulatory assistance, and business services.
