The Senate HELP and House Energy and Committees have expressed concerns about the US Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) cybersecurity plan and lack of leadership in its Healthcare Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center (HCCIC). The committees have demanded answers from HHS Secretary Alex Azar, stating that the removal of two senior HCCIC officials has had a negative impact on the agency’s cybersecurity capabilities. The committees have given HHS until June 19 to respond and explain the HCCIC’s role and how it fits into HHS’ broader cybersecurity efforts.
