HHS task force says healthcare cybersecurity in ‘critical condition’

A report from the U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) has revealed that healthcare organizations in the U.S. are severely lacking in cybersecurity, which leaves them at a high risk of cyberattacks. The report identified six key areas for improvement, including leadership, workforce development, and data sharing. The report also called for a healthcare-specific cybersecurity framework and the appointment of a cybersecurity leader. Healthcare organizations of all sizes are being targeted by cybercriminals due to the value of healthcare data.
