HIMSS23 Europe: Health systems must prepare for cyberattacks

Healthcare organizations need to prioritize preparedness training and rehearsal to increase resilience in the event of cyber incidents, according to experts at a healthcare conference in Lisbon. The increasing sophistication of cyberattacks poses a risk to patient care and hospitals’ operations. Prevention alone is not enough, and backup processes and response plans must be in place. Human error is also a significant risk, and all staff must be trained in cybersecurity measures. Vendors must also prioritize foundational cybersecurity and comply with regulations.
