HIMSSCast: Advancing FHIR exchange to improve prescribing at the VA

The US FDA is using the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) to track COVID-19 vaccine distribution. This open standard technology enables real-time information retrieval, simplifying workflows such as automated prior authorizations. The first FHIR exchange occurred between the FDA and the Cedars Sinai health system and its model is available to other national data exchanges.
