HIMSSCast: How Karmanos Cancer Institute uses AI to find high-risk breast cancer

The Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit is using AI to improve risk assessment for breast cancer patients, focusing on early detection. Deploying Volpara’s AI-based risk assessment software at the point of mammogram screenings, the institute has been able to identify 700 high-risk patients from 7,000 screenings. These patients, with risk scores above 20%, are then streamlined into the institute’s woman’s wellness program for early diagnosis and treatment.
