Hospital cyber attack: Over 800 operations postponed at King’s and Guy’s and St Thomas’

A ransomware cyber attack on Southwark’s hospital trusts resulted in over 800 operations, including 97 cancer treatments, being postponed. Russian cyber criminals, Qilin, are suspected to have perpetrated the attack primarily on King’s College Hospital and Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trusts, affecting outpatient appointments and pathology labs. NHS Trusts are introducing weekend clinics to quickly reschedule procedures and are working towards a solution with the National Cyber Security Centre.
