Hospitals tremble! Ransomcortex arrives. ransomware gang targeting healthcare facilities

A new ransomware group, Ransomcortex, primarily targeting healthcare facilities, has emerged. It specifically attacks healthcare organisations, with three victims in Brazil and one in Canada thus far. Such cybercriminal activities against healthcare bodies increased during the COVID-19 pandemic. The stolen healthcare data is used for financial fraud, extortion, black market sales, phishing, online scams and identity theft. Ransomcortex has also established a recruitment and reward system and provides detailed operations instructions. Effective cybersecurity measures are required to counter such threats.
