WannaCry was a ransomware attack from 2017 that was not highly complex or innovative, but its rapid spread using the EternalBlue exploit caused significant damage worldwide. This incident was a wake-up call for cybersecurity, exposing vulnerabilities in common security frameworks and leading to collective defense efforts.
