HTTP vs. HTTPS: What’s the difference?

HTTP and HTTPS are network protocols that facilitate communication between web browsers and servers to establish web connections. HTTP is less secure, as it does not encrypt data, and can expose certain information to unauthorized parties. HTTPS offers security through encryption, certificates that certify authenticity and nonrepudiation, and safeguards confidentiality and integrity. Web server administrators are, therefore, encouraged to switch from HTTP to HTTPS.
