ICO launches new resources to help prevent data breaches

The UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) revealed that more than 200 self-reported incidents of health data being sent to the incorrect recipient occurred in the last financial year. In response to this, the ICO has launched a set of tools for staff in health organisations to improve data processing and record-swapping, including training videos, tool-kits and webinars. The ICO’s audits also found that a third of health organisations had no information asset register or nominated information asset owners.
