ICO publishes new guidance on sending bulk communications by email

The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) is urging companies to use alternatives to the blind carbon copy (BCC) email feature, following several incidents involving misuse. The office has released new guidance to assist businesses in abiding by the law and ensuring the best practices are used when protecting personal data during bulk email transmissions. Using BCC incorrectly is one of the top data breach causes reported to the ICO annually.
