ICO Reprimands London Council for Mass Data Breach

The UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has reprimanded the London Council for cybersecurity failings that led to a 2020 data breach affecting nearly 280,000 residents. The breach, which cost the council over £12m, was due to poor security and process measures. The Council has since updated its security measures and engaged with authorities such as the National Cyber Security Centre and National Crime Agency.
