Identity and Access Misstep: How an Amazon Engineer Exposed Credentials and More
UpGuard discovered that a repository containing personal information and system credentials from an Amazon Web Services (AWS) engineer was hosted on GitHub. The data, which was exposed for just 30 minutes, was quickly reported to AWS and secured. It consisted of AWS key pairs, passwords, and private keys and highlighted the need for swift data leak detection to prevent minor mistakes transforming into major incidents.
