Improving medical specialty selection with pre-training examinations

There is increasing demand for specialty-specific pre-training exams (PTEs) alongside the US Medical Licensing Exam, which assesses general medical knowledge. The PTEs would not only predict a student’s aptitude and commitment to a speciality but could also rank candidates in the Match process. They could also assist in avoiding unintentional discrimination based on the ranking of an applicant’s medical school.
