Locals, many of whom lack air conditioning systems, are prone to heat-related illnesses. Research showed that every 1°C increase in daily temperature led to a 1% rise in emergency calls in 2020. The highest emergency call rates during these periods were from rural areas, with the elderly being particularly vulnerable.
