Information Commissioner: Persistent sensitive information breaches failing people living with HIV

UK Information Commissioner John Edwards has condemned data protection standards in the country’s health services for people with HIV, calling for urgent improvements following several data breaches that exposed patients’ HIV statuses. Work is being done with HIV charities to enhance support and improve how sensitive information is handled. In 2022/3, the health sector was responsible for over a fifth of all personal data breaches.
