Inside the FBI and DOJ Takedown of Qakbot, the “Swiss Army Knife” of Malware

The international Operation Duck Hunt by the FBI and the US Department of Justice took down Qakbot, a widespread malware and botnet, and seized control of its online infrastructure. The operation involved actions in several countries and removed the malware from nearly 700,000 infected devices globally. Despite this success, cybersecurity experts anticipate that this setback for cybercrime actors may only be temporary. The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made yet.
