A ransomware attack by Russian hackers on multiple NHS trusts has led to the loss of IT systems used for patient tests. Senior hospital sources described the situation as a severe crisis, with operations and procedures cancelled or postponed, and test results recorded manually on paper. Labs operated by Synnovis, King’s College, and Guy’s and St Thomas’ trusts have been particularly affected. Experts warn that it could take weeks or even months to fully recover from the cyberattack.
