Interoperability in healthcare moving forward despite challenges
Healthcare organisations and payers in the US have been struggling with the rules governing the exchange of data between health information networks, according to Mariann Yeager, CEO of nonprofit the Sequoia Project. She said the rules outlined by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services were “fairly generic” and lacked clarity on their implementation. Consequently, there have been “tremendous advances” in the private sector, including the $1bn that interoperability firm CareEquality has invested into building network connectivity.
