Investigation Shows Israeli Malware Firms Pitching Spyware To Embargoed Countries, Serial Human Rights Abusers

Several Israeli private firms, formed by former intelligence analysts, have sold malware to questionable governments, including those blacklisted by many countries. This has resulted in sanctions from the US government. However, the companies have largely continued their activities using offshore entities for plausible deniability. Most recently, Intellexa, a surveillance firm owned by Israelis but operating outside of Israel, has been exposed for selling spyware to Egypt, which was used against critics of the Egyptian government.
