IoT and OT malware saw a huge rise in 2023

Malware attacks on Internet of Things (IoT) and Operational Technology (OT) devices have multiplied four times in a year, according to the Zscaler™ ThreatLabz 2023 Enterprise IoT and OT Threat Report. Predominantly targeting legacy vulnerabilities, attackers often use the malware to launch distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks, leading to substantial financial losses and posing potential risks to human life in the case of OT devices. Manufacturing and retail are the most impacted sectors, and Mexico is the country with the most infections.
