APT42, an Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) group believed to be backed by Iran, is primarily focused on cyber espionage but is also known for other illicit activities including phishing campaigns and data theft. The group has been targeting entities linked to military and strategic interests, such as government officials, academics, and NGO workers. Recently, Google’s Threat Analysis Group (TAG) identified a large-scale phishing campaign by APT42 aimed at the US presidential election. Despite countermeasures by Google, the group continues to adapt its strategies.
