Iranian hackers backdoor 34 orgs with new Sponsor malware

The threat group known as ‘Charming Kitten’ has leveraged a new backdoor malware dubbed ‘Sponsor’ to attack 34 global companies. Detected by ESET researchers, the malware hides configuration files to evade detection and is exploited with batch scripts. Most compromised firms were located in Israel, Brazil, and the UAE, spanning industries such as government, healthcare, finance, and more.
