IT security: Computer attacks with laser light

The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology has shown that air-gapped computer systems can be secretly hacked using lasers aimed at light-emitting diodes on standard office devices. The LaserShark project highlighted the need for critical IT systems to have optical protection, in addition to regular information and communication technology security. The researchers were able to introduce and retrieve data using the technique.
