Japan’s cyber security agency suffers months-long breach

Japan’s National Center of Incident Readiness and Strategy for Cybersecurity, responsible for shielding the country from cyber attacks, has been breached. Hackers, believed to be Chinese state-backed, are thought to have had accessed sensitive data for up to nine months undetected. The hack raises further concerns about Japan’s vulnerability to cyber attacks, after recent incidents including an attack on the country’s defence networks and a ransomware attack on Nagoya port.
