Jeremy Hunt ‘ignored warning signs’ before cyber-attack hit NHS | NHS
UK Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt has been accused of ignoring warnings that the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) was vulnerable to cyber attack. The recent ‘WannaCry’ ransomware attack affected up to 45 NHS organisations, and resulted in operations being cancelled, ambulances being diverted, and patient records becoming temporarily unavailable. Microsoft has subsequently released a patch for the XP operating system, which the majority of NHS computers run, although it will not remove malware if it has already infected the system.
