JUMPSEC research reveals UK ransomware attacks rose

JUMPSEC reports an 87% increase in attacker-reported ransomware attacks in the UK in the first half of 2023. The attack growth was previously slowing in late 2022 but JUMPSEC now expects 2023 to be the most prolific year for ransomware. An exploitation of software vulnerabilities is a major factor in this increase. These attacks disproportionately target the financial services, insurance and IT sectors, and the UK is the most targeted country after the US.
