Kaspersky discovers dual-threat NKAbuse malware in Latin America and Vietnam
Cybersecurity company Kaspersky discovered a new malware variant, NKAbuse, leveraging NKN’s blockchain-based networking protocol. The malware can launch damaging DDoS attacks, covertly execute commands, steal data, and monitor activities, creating a significant threat. Kaspersky found potential victims in Colombia, Mexico, and Vietnam. The malware exploits an outdated RCE vulnerability to infiltrate systems and establishes persistence on the host’s system. Counter measures include regular updates, security team training and use of endpoint detection software.
