Kazakhstan-based hackers targeting gov’t websites in Central Asia, Cisco says

Hackers believed to be from Kazakhstan, known as YoroTrooper, are launching a large-scale espionage campaign against other members of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), says research by Cisco’s Talos group. The hackers have targeted multiple state-owned websites and government accounts, attempting to disguise their activities as originating from Azerbaijan. Despite unsophisticated tactics and tools, their aggressive approach has seen considerable success.
