LA Confidential: How Leaked Emergency Call Records Exposed LA County’s Abuse & Crisis Victims
Detailed information, including social security numbers and extensive details of call logs made to non-profit assistance organisation Los Angeles County 211, were exposed through a cloud storage misconfiguration. Cyber risk firm UpGuard discovered the exposed data, including hashed passwords for 384 users alongside call log details of abuse, distress and emergency situations, in an Amazon Web Services bucket. More than 3 million call log records were found, with detailed notes for 200,000 incidents potentially publicly accessible.
