A report by IDC shows that the majority of healthcare executives expect the Internet of Things (IoT) to become mainstream this year. Nearly 40% of those surveyed already have IoT pilot projects or work underway, and 73% said they are prepared to support IoT in 2017. The top reasons for adopting IoT in healthcare are return on investment, new regulations, digital transformation strategies, care delivery models, and consumer-centric platforms. The top barriers to adoption are privacy and security concerns, limited financial incentives, lack of talent, and competing priorities.
