Less than two days’ worth of O negative blood left, NHS warns

The NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is desperately calling for more donors with O group blood, particularly O negative, due to increased demand and falling donations. Chief executive of NHSBT, Dr Jo Farrar, stated they are making an additional 1,000 appointment slots available every week. Despite modern hospitals using less blood, regular donations are still necessary.
