LockBit copycat DarkVault spurs rebranding rumor

DarkVault, a new ransomware group, appears to be mimicking the website style of LockBit, a well-known ransomware-as-a-service (RaaS) gang. Several other cybercrime groups are also imitating LockBit, using their branding and leaked ransomware builder for their own attacks. This highlights the complexity of attributing threat actors and the challenges raised by the widespread availability of ransomware. Meanwhile, LockBit is slowly resurfacing, exploiting vulnerabilities and modifying its affiliate panel following a partial takedown in February.
