LockBit ransomware extorted $91 million in 1,700 U.S. attacks

The LockBit ransomware group extorted approximately $91m from about 1,700 US organisations since 2020, according to a joint statement from international cybersecurity authorities. They rank as the leading global ransomware threat for 2022. They often target infrastructure sectors such as finance and education. The statement also offered mitigation measures and encouraged organisations to report any incidents to local FBI offices.
