London clinic leaks HIV status of patients

The London 56 Dean Street clinic has breached patient confidentiality by publicising the personal details of nearly 800 of its patients who attend HIV clinics. The leak occurred when staff members negligently sent a group email, rather than blind copying each patient’s details. Health Secretary, Jeremy Hunt, called the breach “completely unacceptable” and called for a more robust approach to data protection within Britain’s health service.
