Los Angeles SIM Swapper Pleads Guilty to Cybercrime Charges
Amir Hossein Golshan, a Los Angeles-based individual, pled guilty to committing cybercrimes including account takeovers, payment fraud, and support impersonation, resulting in almost $740,000 in victim losses. The crimes were executed between April 2019 and February 2023, primarily using SIM swapping and Zelle fraud schemes targeting approximately 500 victims. Golshan also impersonated Apple support staff to steal digital goods, including cryptocurrency and NFTs. He could face up to 25 years in prison.
