Mac users are being targeted again with dangerous malware – here’s what to know

Hackers are tricking macOS users into joining a proxy botnet by offering them free pirated commercial software bundled with proxy Trojan installers malware, Kaspersky has found. Examples include image and video editing and data recovery tools. The malware is granted elevated permissions to modify files and execute commands. The bots are then offered on the dark web for use for illegal activities. Researchers believe other operating systems may be targeted similarly.
