Machine learning, AI, telemedicine and other technologies will pose data security risks, says Dr. John Halamka

Healthcare data security is facing major challenges as the use of aggregated data, machine learning, telemedicine, and health-enabled mobile devices continues to grow. The migration of data to the cloud poses security risks, as healthcare systems may not have the same level of expertise as companies like Google and Microsoft. Additionally, the increasing need for interoperability and the transition to a value-based payment model present further security concerns. Healthcare organizations will have to assume some level of risk in order to adapt and survive.
