Major data breach involving 2 Maine firms headed to court
Two Maine companies, BerryDunn and Reliable Networks, are embroiled in a dispute over a cyber attack that occurred last fall, leading to the theft of personal information of more than a million people. Eight of BerryDunn’s customers have now accused the company of negligence and breach of fiduciary duty. Both companies agree that names, addresses, Social Security numbers, and medical information were stolen, although BerryDunn states there is no evidence the data has been misused.
