A survey conducted by HIMSS has found that 85% of IT security leaders in the healthcare industry are increasing cybersecurity awareness. The main concerns for health executives are potential phishing attacks, viruses or malware, and risk assessment results. However, there are serious barriers inhibiting better cybersecurity practices, including lack of financial resources and lack of cybersecurity personnel. Medical identity theft was reported as the source of healthcare attacks by 75% of respondents. HIMSS is opening the Cybersecurity Hub to address these issues and educate healthcare leaders on protecting against cyber threats.
