Malware attacks on SMEs surged in H1

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Philippines have experienced a four-fold increase in malware attacks in the first half of 2020, rising to 1,847 from 434 in the same period in 2019, according to cybersecurity company Kaspersky. The trend was similar across Southeast Asia, with SMEs suffering 44,022 cyber attacks, a 364% YOY increase. In response, Kaspersky called for the region’s SMEs to improve their cyber defences.
