Malware Down Slightly as Double-Extortion Attacks Increase — Campus Technology

Despite an overall drop in malware in Q2 of 2023, double-extortion ransomware, a data-encrypting attack that also threatens data publication, increased by 72%, according to a report by WatchGuard Technologies. The report also found malware campaigns affecting over 100 systems rose by 21%. It added that 95% of malware hides behind SSL/TLS encryption used by secure websites.
