Malware hits medical devices at 18 percent of healthcare orgs in last year

A joint report from CHIME and KLAS has found that 18% of provider organizations have experienced malware or ransomware infecting or impacting medical devices in the past 18 months. The report also revealed that fewer than 40% of respondents are confident in their health systems’ ability to safeguard devices. Respondents cited internal factors and insufficient resources as major challenges to device security. Additionally, the survey found that 96% of security vulnerabilities stem from manufacturer-related factors.
