Malware-Infected Devices Sold Through Major Retailers

Human Security has revealed BADBOX, a cybercriminal operation which sold malware-infected off-brand Android mobiles and TVs via major retailers, with origins in Chinese factories. The malware could steal personal data and perform fraudulent activities. Additionally, Human found an ad fraud module within BADBOX, and discovered a similar fraudulent scheme, PEACHPIT, which operated independently. Human is working with tech giants and law enforcement to prevent such cyber crime.
